UML CC meets to discuss criteria for CA nominees under PR

Kathmandu: Central Committee (CC) meeting of CPN (UML) is scheduled to start from today. The CC meeting is finalising the criteria on picking the names of the CA members under the proportional representation system. As the number of aspirants for the CA member under the PR electoral system is high, the UML is formulating criteria to choose 84 CA members that it is entitled for.  According to the UML secretariat member Bishnu Rimal, party chairman Jhalanath Khanal would table the proposal of criteria to pick the names of the CA candidates. Today’s meeting will discuss the criteria, he said.
A large number of aspirants for the CA member are lobbying with top leaders to secure the post. Demands inside the party are that the criteria should not be made that ensure the seats in the CA for the central committee members. They say that the ratio should be of 50-50 to the CC members and the junior level leaders.
Likewise, there are voices inside the UML that the young leaders should also get the chance to reach in the CA.
