UML claims victory on 100 seats under direct system



Kathmandu: CPN (UML) has concluded that it will be a first party through the upcoming Constituent Assembly polls with winning 100 seats under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system. Based on the reporting it has received throughout the country, the meeting of the Election Mobilisation Committee held today made such conclusion.
The meeting has concluded that the party was almost sure to win 97 seats under FPTP, while there was neck-to-neck competition on 80 seats. Likewise, it has also concluded that the party was likely to loss in 63 constituencies.
According to the calculation of the meeting, UML is likely to win seven to eight seats out of total 15 seats in the Kathmandu valley, which includes Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts. The meeting has inferred that the party’s position has become stronger compared to the previous election in 2008.
The meeting has also criticises the Election Commission’s silence over the flagrant violations of the election code of conduct and attack on its cadres across the country.
