UML won’t give up stance regarding amendment issues: Mahaseth

Mahaseth

KATHMANDU, April 29: Leader of the main opposition party CPN-UML Raghubir Mahaseth has claimed that the revised constitution amendment bill was drafted in a way that itself would prevent constitution from implementing.

Speaking during an interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal on Saturday, he said, “It is unfortunate that the bill was drafted without carrying out discussion with opposition party UML. The proposal was against the national interest and they clearly knew that UML won’t accept the proposal. That’s why they prepared it without discussing with UML.”

Commenting over the government’s proposal to increase the number of local levels in 11 districts, Mahaseth said, “if this is implemented, Madhes will fight among themselves. It is against the national interest; and UML will not back when matter comes about nationality.”

He claimed that UML wanted election and accused the ruling coalition to have tries to foil the image of UML party by false claiming us as against the election.

“Election must be conducted in the scheduled date. If the ruling coalition fails to hold the polls, then they must hand over the government to someone else,” he added.

He further added that UML will not give up their stance concerning the issues of constitution amendment bill.
