KATHMANDU, April 28: The main opposition CPN-UML leader Keshab Badal has demanded that the amendment bill tabled in the parliament should immediately be withdrawn as it was against the national interest.

He also claimed the bill was of sort that would bring division among the people in the country, while speaking during a face to face interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal on Friday.

Claiming that UML always wanted welfare of Madhesi people, he said, “Some factors have been bad-mouthing UML in Madhes. It should be stopped as UML is a party of all people of Himal, Pahad and Madhes.”

“UML has always struggled for the welfare of Madhes.”

Commenting over the government’s move to propose the new amendment bill, he said, “Drafting constitution is the duty of legislature-parliament. But in our country, the government is making constitution, which is condemnable as it has never been practiced any where before.”

“The government is trying to scrape the Article 274. It’s not democratic and UML will not get involved in any sort of anti-national activities.”

“The amendment bill will never pass through,” he claimed.

He also criticized the government’s decision to conduct second phase poll before the announcement of budget.
