Yadav rakes up old issues as conditions to join CA elections
KATHMANDU: An influential leader from a Madhesh-centric political party has warned to boycott the proposed Constituent Assembly elections, if his party’s demand were not addressed by the High Level Political Committee (HLPC).
Chairman of Madheshi Janadhikar Forum -Democratic (MJF-D)Upendra Yadav, an influential figure in the Madhesh centric politics, issued such a warning at a time when major political parties are striving to hold CA elections in June in the leadership of the Chief Justice Interim Election Council (IEC).
Yadav reiterated that forming new election constituencies on the basis of population were imperative to hold fair and just elections.
Along with that he has also demanded to scrap the system of providing voting card on the basis of citizenship card. Yadav opined that both issues are different and claimed that citizenship cannot be basis to provide voting rights.
Thirdly, Yadav called for holding local body elections at the earliest. Speaking at a program in Saptari, he accused major political parties of pushing the nation into further crisis by forming the CJ led government.
