Banda throws life out of gear in Limbuwan region
JHAPA: Normal life has been crippled in the Limbuwan state of the eastern region for the third consecutive day today due to an indefinite strike called by the Federal Limbuwan State Council.
The Council called the strike demanding that the citizenship distribution, and voters list collection process be stopped until the agitating fringe parties’ demands regarding the Constituent Assembly elections were addressed.
The life in eastern districts including Jhapa, Ilam, Panchthar, Taplejung, Dhankuta, Sankhuwasahba, and Terathum were badly affected while there was nominal impact in Morang and Sunsari.
People, who had to work for two square meals a day and passengers heading to different destinations were hit hard. Academic institutions, market areas, industries have been shut down due to the banda .
Meanwhile, the banda enforcers torched two motorcycles in Jhapa and pelted stones on the passenger bus in different places, according to the District Police Office, Jhapa.
Police arrested 11 people in connection to the incidents.
