Parliamentary party leader row soares within CPN UML


KATHMANDU: CPN UML has also entangled into internal controversy on appointing the party’s Parliamentary Party leaders. The Central Committee meeting called on for today to finalize the candidate was postponed and instead the Standing Committee meeting was called to discuss the issue.

Party sources claimed that the SC meeting was called to hold intense discussions on the issue before presenting it to the CC.

The meeting is scheduled for mid afternoon and is expected to discuss the roles of the PP leader and promises that the two contenders– Chairman Jhalnath Khanal and senior leader K P Sharma Oli– have made.

Though intially senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and Vice Chairman Bamdev Gautam were in the race, sources confirmed that they are planning to give up their claim to select the candidate on the basis of consensus.
