SC banned for funcitioning to LSPRS
Kathmandu, Dec 16: The Supreme Court on Tuesday barred the Landless Squatters Problems Resolution Commission from carrying out its works for the time being.
A joint bench of Justices Cholendra Samsher Rana and Deepak Raj Joshi issued an interim order to halt its activities until the final verdict on the case. Earlier, advocate Chandramani Poudel had filed a case at SC on December 6, challenging the legitimacy of the formation of the commission.
Accusing the formation of district chapter of the commission unilaterally by CPN-UML, the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has been demanding the dissolution of commission arguing that it is working arbitrarily.
The Commission has been also charged with arbitrariness and monopoly while distributing land to the ´landless squatters.
