17 die in Julma bus accident
JUMLA, March 16: At least 17 people were killed and 15 other injured when a bus overturned at Raralihi VDC in Jumla district on Monday morning.
The ill-fated bus, Na 4 Kha 4970, of Karnali Yatayat, en route to Nagam, Kalikot, from Jumla, carrying 29 passengers, overturned at Kath Kudeni in Raralihi VDC.
Police said that 13 persons died on the spot while two others on their way to hospital. Another Two passengers breathed their last in a hospital where they were rushed for treatment. Five of the injured 15 passengers are said to be in critical condition. One passenger escaped the accident unhurt.
Police has identified only bus driver Harka Buda and conductor Sagar Buda among the deceased. The identity of other dead passengers has not been ascertained yet.
A team of police under the Deputy Superintendent of Police of Banke Area Traffic Police Office have been deployed to the place of incident to rescue the injured passengers, informed SP Bhoj Jung Sah, who also confirmed about the incident.
Police said that the bus fell some 200 meters down the road.
