NC‚ UCPN-M hold talks‚ aim consensus by April 13



KATHMANDU, Apr 8: Ruling Nepali Congress (NC) and the main opposition UCPN-Maoist have agreed to expedite inter-party talks so as to reach consensus on disputed constitutional issues by April 13, the date the Constituent Assembly (CA) is set to hold its next meeting.

At a meeting held between NC President and Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the former’s residence in Baluwatar this morning, the two parties discussed how to move ahead with the constitution writing process, PM’s press coordinator Prakash Adhikari said.

Emerging from the meeting, UCPN-Maoist General Secretary Krishna Bahadur Mahara said his party initiated talks with ruling parties with an aim to forge consensus within next five days.
