Hemp, opium plants destroyed



Hetauda, Jan 26: Police has destroyed the hemp and opium plants in the western and northern belt of Makawanpur district.

According to the District Police Office, Makawanpur, the hemp plants planted on 1,500 hectares of land and opium seed plants cultivated on 350 bighas were destroyed.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Shishu Sharma, said that action against 11 persons for their involvement in illegal cultivation has been initiated under the Narcotics Prohibition Act. The seven VDCs are—Namtar, Kakada, Sarikhet Palase, Bharta, Dandakharka, Arga and Raskirang.
