Fourth Regional Syangja Festival kicks off

The theme of the fair is – The Basis of Syangja Trade Fair: Tourism and Agriculture, the Foundation of Economic Progress.The festival features a children’s recreational park, tourism and cultural programmes, exhibition of local costumes, an inter-secondary school level dance and singing competition, a national folk duet song competition and automobile show.

An exhibition of agricultural products like orange, coffee, green vegetables, ginger and medicinal herbs has also been organised as part of the festival.

Besides these, a camel brought from Rajasthan of India, an ostrich, yak, birds, paragliding and fish festival are the other attractions of the festival.

It is stated that the fair has been organised with the objective of socio-economic development of the district through the promotion of the industrial, trade, tourism, agricultural, educational, health and cultural sectors.

President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Pashupati Murarka inaugurated the trade fair amid a programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Murarka said the private sector has not been able to carry out its works freely due to the many legal constraints and the lack of sound government policies.

He further said that the industrial sector has been devastated by the ongoing protest movement in the Tarai, due to which the country’s economy has been deteriorating.

FNCCI vice-president Dinesh Lla Shrestha, former president Ananda Raj Mulmi, central member Deepak Lamsal, director-general of the Inland Revenue Department Chudamani Dhakal, chief executive officer of the Muktinath Development Bank Bharat Raj Dhakal, director of the Trade Promotion Centre Ishwari Ghimire, among other speakers spoke of the need of industrial development, employment generation and export promotion for the economic development of the country.

They also underlined the need of developing the infrastructure and tourism sectors in Syangja district.
