Barbara’s body to be put in Nepal Academy for last respects



Kathmandu, April 24: The mortal body of journalist Barbara Adams, who passed away Saturday, is to be placed at the Nepal Academy premises from 9:00 am to 11:00 am tomorrow, Monday for last tributes.

Her last rights will be performed at the Pashupati Aryaghat as per her wish the same day, the Barbara Peace Foundation said.

Barabara had first time arrived here in 1960 as a journalist to cover the royal visit paid by British Queen Elizabeth II. Since then, she had been staying here.

She has an incredible contribution in starting professional tourism in Nepal and promoting it. She was a freelance journalist. She acquired the Nepali citizenship in 2065 BS. Of late she had been actively engaged in a campaign of constructing house for the landless people in Baitadi and Darchula, the districts in the far-western region.

She had instituted the ‘Barbara Adams Investigation Journalism Award’ at the Central Department of Journalism and Mass Communications, Tribhuvan University. RSS
