Budget to address journos’ demands: Minister Rai



Kathmandu, May 19: Minister for Information and Communications Sherdhan Rai has said that most of the demands of the journalists would be addressed through upcoming budget.

Addressing the inaugural session of the 8th National Convention of the Press Chautari Nepal here today, Minister Rai added that the budget will have some new aspects that would address the issues of journalists.

He said the government was committed to implementing the Working Journalist Act and that the constitution could not be rewritten.

Similarly, Federation of Nepali Journalists President Dr Mahendra Bista, Press Union Nepal, senior vice-chair Deepak Acharya among other officials of different journalists associations had wished for the success of the convention.

Also present on the occasion were CPN (UML) leaders including general secretary Ishwor Pokharel, secretary duo Pradip Gyawali, Yogesh Bhattarai and central member Surya Thapa.
