Journalists pledge to transform online news portal into most trustworthy and fact based media
KATHMANDU, March 11: Journalists based on online portal have urged for transforming the online media into the most trustworthy and fact based media.
Inaugurating a new online portal harpalnepal.com aired by Dristi Media Pvt Ltd today at Reporters’ Club Nepal today, editor of harpalnepal.com Lok Raj Jaise pledged for publishing fact and trustworthy news in his site.
Speaking during the program, Founder President of Online Journalist Associastion Nepal KP Dhungana encouraged the online based journalists to write qualitative news.
President of Online Journalist Association Nepal Prabesh Subedi said that although the online news media in Nepal were global and wide-ranged media, the agencies lacked manpower. He also pleaded the government to provide necessary support to the online news agencies for their organized and institutionalized running.
Govinda Chaulagain, Chairman of Online Journalist Association Kathmandu Branch informed that there were about 573 online site registered in the Press Council and stressed on delivering news paying attention to the people’s need and the delicacy of current situation the country.
Speaking during the program Reporters’ Club Nepal’s President and senior journalist Rishi Dhamala claimed the online media to have represented the society and nation.
He said, “Today from 10-years old to 80 years old use mobiles and internet services. Therefore, it is our duty to write and publish a reality based and unbiased news in the social media in order to deliver correct information to the people.”
Journo Dhamala also urged the journalists to focus on publishing news related to developments and social change for transformation of country.
