Maiti Nepal rescues five women from border

ILAM, March 21: Maiti Nepal in Pashupatinagar on Monday rescued five women being trafficked to India from the border.

The women were rescued while being taken to India for sale from Chabisse area at Nepal – India border, Maiti Nepal – Pashupatinagar’s Programme Coordinator Hom Dhakal said.

All the rescued women hail from Uhiya of Gorkha district. They were being promised employment in Kuwait and Pakistan and for this their passports were made in a single day in Kathmandu, Dhakal shared.

The women were rescued with support of the Indian police and local women. The traffickers could not be arrested as they had told the women to come to India and meet them.

Man found dead
A local of Sandakpur Village Council – 4 was found dead on Monday. District Police Office, Ilam has identified him as Ganesh Gurung, 53.

His body was found lying face down by a roadside. He has bruises near his neck and police have opened an investigation into a possible murder case, Superintendent of Police (SP), Sushil Kumar Yadav said. RSS
