ROLPA, Nov 11: CPN (Maoist Center) leader Barshaman Pun’s vehicle was ambushed in Madi rural municipality-1, Bhittabang, Rolpa at 10:37 am on Saturday morning.
Leader Pun was travelling from Sukhodar to Dhartigau for his election campaign when his vehicle (Ba 15 Cha 8628) was ambushed. The vehicle suffered minor damage and no occupants travelling in the vehicle were hurt in the incident.
Pun is a candidate from Rolpa constituency -1.
Talking to Reporters’ Club Nepal, Pun condemned that attack and urged the government to focus on the safety of the election candidates.
He said, “I want to criticize the life threatening attack on a candidate on the eve of election. It is a conspiracy against me, and could be an attempt to foil election.”
“I have received many threats from various unknown sources. The government must discourage such criminal activities and focus on the safety of the candidates,” he added.
Police have suspected Biplov-led Maoist Party’s involvement in the attack.
On Friday, a bomb was thrown targeting Home Minister Janardan Sharma’s vehicle in Rukum district.
