Two killed, six injured in gas plant fire in Birjung
BIRJUNG, Dec 20: At least two have been killed, and six were injured after Super Gas Factory of Bahubari, Birjung sub metropolitan caught in fire on Wednesday morning. The fire started at around 6 am in the morning after a gas leakage in industries bottle department.
Firemen Madhusudan Mishra and Yadav Prasad Adhikari were burned to death when trying to douse the inferno while Ambika Patel, Sanjeev Nepal, Arun Mahato and three others Metropolis staffs sustained injuries, said fire engine’s officiating in-charge Sher Bahadur Karki. The District Police Office, Parsa, however, is yet to confirm deaths.
The injured have been brought to Kathmandu from helicopter for further treatment.
Teams of firefighters, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police and fire fighters from India have reached the site but they haven’t been able to reach near as the fire has gone on a rampage.
The number of causalities in the massive fire and property loss is yet to be estimated yet.
Meanwhile, the settlements have been evacuated and five nearby villages within the radius of 1 km have been kept under high alert to avoid further casualties.
