Indefinite curfew lifted in Kalikot
KATHMANDU, Dec 25: The District Administration Office Kalikot has lifted the indefinite curfew that had been effective in the district headquarter Manma since Friday afternoon.
The curfew was lifted after the probe committee formed by the Home Ministry under the leadership of Joint-secretary Man Bahadur BK reached the headquarters to investigate into the incident. The probe committee will begin its task today itself.
However, the surrounding of the District Administration Office will remain restricted zone, said the District Office.
Kalikot District Administration Office had clamped an indefinite curfew in Manma after the protesters intensified demonstration demanding stern against the guilty and compensation to temporary police Bibek Aidi’s family.
The 20-year-old Aidi of Raskot Municipality-2 was shot to death by police on Friday during a clash between the protestors and police. The clash had erupted out after the police started baton charging and lobbing tear gas shells toward the temporary cops who were picketing the District Police Office expressing disappointment over their pay cuts and other perks by including unnecessary charges.
