Dr Govinda KC at Supreme court

KATHMANDU, Jan 9: Dr Gobinda KC, who was arrested on Monday on charges of contempt of court, was presented before the Supreme Court today morning at 9 am.

Dr KC’s presentation before the court was in line with the direction of the apex court to the Home Ministry and the police to this effect.

Meanwhile, the SC has started recording Dr KC’s statement. The hearing on the case will begin after recording the statement, according to the SC sources.

Dr KC, who had staged hunger strikes 13 times, demanding reforms in medical sector, just announced the 14 fast-onto-death demanding resignation of Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli before he was arrested from the protest spot at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj.

Earlier, former Prime Minister and Naya Shakti coordinator Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Nepali Congress leader Gagan Thapa, Bibeksheel Party coordinator Rabindra Mishra among others had staged demonstration at Maitighar Mandala against Dr KC’s arrest.
