My term as President is like an open book, says Bhandari

KATHMANDU, March 7: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that her first term as the Head-of-the-State of Nepal is like an open book.

Talking to media persons briefly after registering her candidacy for the second term as President at the Office of Election Officer set up on the premises of New Baneshwor-based Federal Parliament, the incumbent President said that her duties and responsibilities as the Head-of-the-Nation are transparent.

“As I believe reality is that which needs to be evaluated by the third eye not by external judgment,” she added.

The President furthered, “I have done my roles as per the main spirit of the Nepal’s constitution keeping the interests of the nation at first. I hope citizen will properly evaluate my first term as President.”

“Whatever I have done is like an open book,” she said.

The presidential election is scheduled for March 13.

According to her, she has received the words of support from almost all political parties regarding her candidacy for her second term at the Shitwal Niwas. She expected support and favor from the electoral presidium in the election of new president.

The first female president of a federal democratic republic of Nepal expressed her gratitude to political parties, members of parliament and media for their valuable support, hoping for such sort of support in the days ahead as well.

She was the Vice-chair of CPN-UML before being elected to the presidential post on October 28, 2015.

Meanwhile, UML’s leader Subash Chandra Nembang said the party decided to field the incumbent president as presidential candidate for a second term, bearing in mind her role as the first female president.

Nembang also took the candidacy registration for new Presidential post from the main opposition Nepali Congress positively. Nepali Congress has fielded Laxmi Kumari Rai against Bidya Devi Bhandari for the presidential election.
