KATHMANDU, June 8: Nepal Students Union (NSU), the student wing of main opposition Nepali Congress, Friday staged a demonstration to protest against the price hike in petroleum products in central capital Kathmandu.

The agitators demonstrated before government colleges including Pashupati, Tri Chandra, Ratna Rajya, Amrit Science Campus (Ascol), Saraswati and Nepal Commerce Campus, Min Bhawan demanding withdrawal of the price increment.

Addressing a protest, NSU Vice President Ram Prasad Adhikari said they resorted to the agitation against the continuous price swelling of petroleum products.

“Repeated price hike in petroleum products has caused the market price soaring, thus crippling daily life of people. We demand rolling back of the price increment,” he said.

Likewise, as part of the protest, the NSU is scheduled on June 9 to take out a torch rally in all districts, on June 10 to bar vehicles belonging to government offices and corporations, from passing through all government colleges and on June 12 to burn an effigy of the Prime Minister across the country.
