Bangladeshi President Hamid returning home today

KATHMANDU, Nov 15: President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Mohammad Abdul Hamid will wrap up his four-day official goodwill visit to Nepal and depart for home today afternoon.

Hamid arrived in Kathmandu on Nov 12 at the invitation of his counterpart Bidya Devi Bhandari.

He will leave at around 5 pm.

During his stay, President Hamid held bilateral talks with Bhandari. The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the excellent state of relations existing between Nepal and Bangladesh and agreed to further expand and consolidate them in the days ahead.

Discussion on promoting cooperation in trade, tourism, investment, energy and all forms of connectivity, disaster management, education, climate change and means and ways to promoting cooperation and collaboration at regional and international levels on matters of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.

Hamid also paid courtesy calls on Vice-president Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli and National Assembly Chair Ganesh Prasad Timalsina.

Likewise, he also called on Nepal Communist Party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

On Thursday, Hamid visited the tourism city Pokhara and enjoyed boating at the Fewa lake.

He is scheduled to visit Chandragiri hills and Patan Durbar Square today before leaving for Dhaka.

Meanwhile, the Tribhuvan International Airport authorities have decided to delay all the international flights for half-an-hour during Hamid’s departure.

According to TIA, the airport will remain closed from 4:40 to 5:10 pm.
