Revolutionary decision in need to resolve country’s problems: PM Dahal

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said long-standing problems facing the country could be resolved in a package only after taking a revolutionary decision on the existing provision relating to land.

Stating that the government was serious about resolving land-related problems, he directed the National Land Commission (NLC) to discharge its duty accordingly. The PM today had a meeting with the office bearers of the Commission at his official residence in Baluwatar.

“There is a long term solution to land management. I have made up my mind to take some revolutionary decision in the Cabinet meeting. Land-related problems should not repeat. We must find a scientific and long term solution,” opined the Prime Minister.

He also directed the concerned authorities to prioritise a long term solution to the problems facing landless squatters and unmanaged settlements. “The government will do its work at policy level. But, these problems should be ended.”
In another context, PM Dahal said initiatives were being taken to increasing the ceiling of budget. “Economy is not free of crisis. But, we should not skip initiatives and work excusing that we lack money. When there is a crisis, there is a possibility.”

He stressed the need for working hard to improve the economy and speed up development activities.

Others present on the occasion were Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Ranjita Shrestha Chaudhary, the ministry’s secretary Dr Damodar Regmi, the NLC Chairperson Keshab Niraula and Vice Chairperson Narendra Khadka among others. RSS
