KATHMANDU, Feb 19: The 69th National Democracy Day has been observed amid a special function in the capital on Tuesday.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister and National Democracy Day-2075 Main Function Committee Chairperson K P Sharma Oli, Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana, Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara and National Assembly Chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina attended the function organized at the Army Pavilion in Tundikhel.

Nepal celebrates the National Democracy Day every year on Falgun 7 to commemorate the attainment of democracy after abolition of the 104 year long autocratic Rana Regime.

Also present on the occasion were Deputy Prime Minister, ministers, constitutional bodies’ chiefs, high-ranking government officials and chiefs of diplomatic missions.

On the occasion, a Nepal Army Helicopter hoisted banner reading 69th National Democracy Day-2075.

National anthem was recited; homages were paid to all the known and unknown martyrs and march pass was done from various organizations including Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Scout.

At the ceremony, Artists performed various cultural dances of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Madhyapur Thimi and Kirtipur.

The ceremony was addressed by the prime ministers.
