No shutdown and tire burning during NC protest: Spokesperson Sharma

Bishwo Prakash Sharma

KATHMANDU, Feb 4: Nepali Congress Spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma has clarified that they are organizing nationwide protest in order to pressure the government to correct dozens of mistakes it has made.

“Although the incumbent government has corrected some mistakes, there are still many that need correction,” Sharma told Reporters’ Club Nepal.

The opposition party has decided to launch protest program across the country today, expressing dissatisfaction over various issues including government’s behavior towards Dr Govinda KC’s hunger strike, attempts to root out the hospitals established in the name of Girija Prasad Koirala and Sushil Koirala, government’s failure to arrest those involved in rape and murder of Nirmala Panta of Kanchanpur, bypassing the opposition party in constitution council meeting, failure to control price hike and corruption.

‘The protest programs will be silent. We will conduct activities like burning tires, Nepal or valley banda,” said Sharma.

“The government, without establishing consent with the opposition, forcefully endorsed the National Medical Education Bill. Why does not the government take action against the individuals accused in misappropriations of Rs 4.35 billion in procurement of two wide-body aircraft? Why was the Budhi Gandaki Hydroelectricity Project awarded to Chinese company? Where is the culprit of Nirmala rape and murder case?”
