Minister Rai opines for newness to Grokhapatra



Kathmandu, April 1: Minister for Information and Communications Sherdhan Rai today stressed the need to provide newness to the publications of Gorkhapatra Corporation in order to connect the corporation to the aspirations of people.

“Promulgated as per aspirations of people, the new constitution is being implemented. In this context, access of corporation’s publications especially Gorkhapatra Daily should be extended to the reach of people,” he said.

He was speaking at a programme organised at the Ministry today to make public the Management Reforms Action Plan, 2072 prepared by the corporation, the Minister said that the only state-owned newspaper daily should come out of conventional way in terms of its functioning.

“Gorkhapatra has held a position to guide Nepali journalism with a sense of responsibility and professionalism. So it should be responsible and link itself with the aspirations of people,” he said

Similarly, Secretary at the Ministry Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya pointed out the need of reforms in management of the Gorkhapatra Corporation.

He directed the concerned officials to begin construction works of the new building for the corporation as its building was damaged by the April 25 earthquake last year.

The corporation chair Ramesh Tuphan and General Manager Sushil Koirala presenting the reforms plan asked for support from the Ministry as the corporation was facing various problems.
