PM Oli says govt on right track overcoming obstacles

Kathmandu, May 10: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has asserted that the government would move forward with the initiation of the right works without getting stuck in obstacles, hurdles and protests.

Speaking at the memorial function on the first death anniversary of former Prime Minister and founder president of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Surya Bahadfur Thapa here today, Prime Minister Oli underscored the need of national unity and implementing the constitution together by tearing apart various confusions.

“Some people are protesting the government just for the sake of it and have confined themselves to the culture of throwing different types of slurs at it. But the government wants to move ahead on the true and the right path, unperturbed by such petty attacks,” he said.

The Prime Minister stated the obstacles and hurdles should be taken as normal things in a democracy and that the government was working to make the country strong by removing these obstacles.

He added that the government was also involved in expanding ties with both neighbours – India and China – consistent with the 21st century and marked by cordiality, mutual benefit and respect.

PM Oli described the late Thapa as a guardian figure of the country with his distinct profile and personality, saying he was in constant touch with him since his prison days. He further said that the late Thapa was always concerned about the welfare of the country and the people.

Thapa passed away on 15 April 2015 at the age of 88. Thapa had served as the prime minister of the country for five terms in a political career spanning more than 50 years. He had worked under three different kings and was a firm supporter of monarchy until the first people’s movement.

RPP leaders Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani., Deepak Bohara, Buddhiman Tamang, Sunil Bahadur Thapa, the late Thapa’s son, among others paid tribute to the late Thapa eulogising his contribution to the country through politics. Party’s senior leader Pashupati Shumsher Rana presided over the function. RSS
