Lok singer Pangeni has his say, ‘Federalism for People’
KATHMANDU, Jan 21: Popular Lok singer Badri Pangeni has his concern on ‘Who the federalism is for-either it is for people or political leaders or a playground where international meddling whistles while we vie from one post to another?’
Nepal is on the verge of another political transition. The constitution amendment bill has been tabled in the parliament, and is waiting to be passed by two-third majority while opposition and dissatisfied parties are protesting it from street to parliament. Political leaders are pointing at and blaming each other while failing to reach a concrete understanding that could provide a solid resolution to nation.
Lok singer Pangeni, in an interview with senior journalist and Reporters’ Club Nepal’s president Rishi Dhamala regards people as an important organ of federalism that political leaders must address the voice of people.
“Leadersim is not the spirit of a federal country. Federalism also has global standard. It is my request that the leaders understand what standard applied is appropriate to Nepal. We chose federalism since centralized system did not work.”
He also urged the political leaders listen to voices being raised in Province 5 and solve their problems as immediately as possible.
As Journo Dhamala asked if he had any message to Sher Bahadur Deuba, Prachanda, KP Oli and other political leaders through his song, he tuned:
Mila KP, Prachanda, Mila hai Deuba Dai
Ekata ko khacho cha aahile desh lai, that goes: top political leaders like Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, main opposition party CPN-UML chairman KP Sharma Oli and Nepali congress president and others must come to an understanding and unite that could help nation give a solid solution out of this political mishaps.
He also expressed his dissatisfation that foreign culture and songs had been a threat to Nepali Lok Bhaka which the government had not taken seriously.
“It is duty and responsiblity of government to conserve national tradition- as Lok Bhaka being one of them- government ought to adapt notable efforts to preserve Lok culture,” he added “Lok culture is getting endangered. If we don’t start thinking about it now, we will have to go to Barma and Dargeeling to hear Lok songs in future.
He also requested journo Dhamala to join hands together for conserving national culture and tradition.
