NC top leaders show readiness for all three level election

KATHMANDU, Feb 3:The top leaders of Nepali Congress have shown their readiness for election of all three levels arguing election as the only tool for implementation of constitution and institutionalizing democracy.

NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, while addressing a two-day meeting of NC close Nepal Trade Union’s national council meeting today, instructed all cadres to be ready for the election.

Deuba, also the former Prime Minister added that the enforcement of the new constitution promulgated during the NC-led government was a major responsibility of NC.

He also expressed his confidence that the NC would yet again win the trust of the people in the local body’s election as in the second constitution assembly election in November, 2013 where the public had voted in the favour of NC that eventually emerged NC as the largest party in the Parliament.

He shared that the date for local body’s election would be announced anytime for the fact that the many developments were taking place towards this end, including the endorsement of the election related bills in the Parliament and appointment of two election commissioners in the Election Commission.

Similarly, senior leader Ramchandra Poudel stated that the demands raised by the laborers could be addressed through the amendment of the Labour Act.

Underscoring mutual coordination between the industry and laborer for establishment of laborers’ right, Poudel clarified that the new constitution could not incorporate all demands raised by the laborers as he said that the new national statute was a document promulgated through the political consensus.

Likewise, NC General-Secretary Dr Shashanka Koirala reiterated NC’s commitment to hold three-tier of elections by January, 2018 to bring into effect the new national charter.

NC Treasurer Sita Devi Yadav also urged the cadres to be ready for the elections for she said that the internal preparations were being made to announce the date for local poll.

Union’s President Khilanath Dahal said that the two-day event would discuss issues relating to the welfare of the labourers. RSS
