Newly recommended ambassador to Omen Sharmila Parajuli Dhakal denies she has any connection to Manpower Business
KATHMANDU, Feb 26: Sharmila Parajuli Dhakal, whom the government had recommended as an ambassador to Omen on February 20, has clarified that she didn’t and nor will have any connection to Manpower business.
Organizing a press conference at the Reporters’ Club Nepal on Saturday, she claimed the news that surfaced in news media and social networks about her having connection with Manpower business soon after she was recommended as an ambassador to Omen was completely untrue.
Issuing a press release she stated, “I don’t own any business at the moment. Right now I have been concentrating on my studies and social service. First and foremost be informed that I never had nor will have any connection to Manpower business.”
She has also denied the rumors that she had been deported by the Malaysian government in 2006. She said, “It is baseless and a joke. My passport is in front of you and you can scan it to your satisfaction. Otherwise, you can verify it from the Malaysia embassy in Nepal as well.”
Dhakal expressed her confidence that the Nepal government had recommended her as ambassador trusting her ability and considering her diplomatic potential.
She said, “I had played an important role in the signing of labor agreement between the government of Nepal and Bahrain in the past. I have been active in resolving the problems faced by Nepali migrant workers in the Middle East and enhancing bilateral ties between Nepal and many countries in the region in capacity of the vice chairperson of Nepal Dubai Chamber of Commerce. Trusting my ability and considering my diplomatic potential, the government has recommended me for the post of ambassador. However, I must tell you that I have not visited Oman even once despite living in Dubai for such a long period.”
