EC urges to abide by code of conduct

KATHMANDU, March 5: The Election Commission (EC) has urged the Prime Minister to get prior approval from the Election Commission while using private helicopter in course of political activities.

A meeting of the EC held on Sunday decided to issue directives to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers for the provision not to get involved in election publicity campaigns.

Likewise, the EC decided to give directive to the ministries, stating that the ministers are required to take consent from the EC for using government vehicles for government jobs and private vehicles for political activities and not to visit beyond the district headquarters.

Similarly, the EC has decided to give directive to the legislature-parliament to bar the lawmakers from using any government vehicles and resources for the electioneering.

However, the regular recruitment process conducted by the Public Service Commission and Judicial Service Commission Nepal will go unhindered.

Besides, the EC has decided to give consent for the officials’ recruitment process (except political appointment) in different state-owned agencies that are held in the chair of PSC or representation. However, the process to select the officials only from the interview, if any, would be halted till the election period, according to a press statement issued by the EC. RSS
