Only 27 local levels waiting to announce election results



Second phase of local polls today

KATHMANDU, July 5: Out of 334 local levels where the second phase of local level elections were held on June 28, final results of vote counting have been announced at 307 levels.

According to the Joint Election Operation Centre (JEOC) at the Election Commission, Nepal, election results have been announced at 119 local levels in the Province no. 1, at 104 levels in the Province no. 5 and at 84 levels in Province no. 7. Only 27 levels are waiting to announce the final election results.

As per the poll results updates until 3:30 pm today, the CPN (UML) has become victorious (with winning the post of mayor and chairperson) at 135 levels, NC has secured wins at 116 levels while the CPN (Maoist Centre) has won the elections at 36 levels. Likewise, the Federal Socialist Forum Nepal has registered victory at six levels, the Democratic Forum Nepal at six levels, Rastriya Prajatantra Party at four and Rastriya Janamorcha at two levels.

Independent candidates have won the elections at two levels.

According to EC Spokesperson, Surya Prasad Sharma, CPN (UML) has won election to the post of deputy mayor and vice-chairperson at 157 levels, NC at 99, CPN (Maoist Centre) at 37, Federal Socialist Forum Nepal at five, Democratic Forum Nepal at five, Rastriya Prajatantra Party at two and Rastriya Janamorcha in two.

Vote counting is underway at 24 local-level of eight districts while it has been postponed at Dharan of Sunsari, Arjundhara of Jhapa and Punarbas of Kanchanpur.

A total of 15,038 people’s representatives would be elected from 334 local-levels in second round of local-level election. A total of 4,740,522 votes were cast in the election. RSS
