RPP sacks 16 leaders

KATHMANDU, Aug 7: Rasriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has expelled 17 leaders including six lawmakers from the party stripping them of party membership on Monday.

Those expelled lawmakers are Sunil Bahadur Thapa, Biraj Bista, Resham Lama, Rajyalaxmi Shrestha, Deepak Bohora and Babita Moktan Lawati.

Likewise, the central committee members Nawaraj Subedi, Ram Krishna Bhattarai, Pradeep Udaya, Padam Bahadur Basnet, Bishnu Bikram Thapa, Hari Bahadur Basnet, Giridhari Pariyar, Deepak Kumar Rai, Bindu Pahadi, and Kiran Giri have also been sacked from the party.

The party expelled the leaders since they had hand in forming the Rastriya Prajatantra Party Democratic, according to RPP sources.

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party which united nine months ago with Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal split on Sunday into two factions as disappointed faction led by senior leader Pashupati Shumsher JB Rana registered a new party under the name Rastriya Prajatantra Party Democratic at the Election Commission.

Altogether 75 leaders including 22 lawmakers had signed the application submitted to the EC.

The internal dispute among the top leaders had plagued the RPP since its unification last November.
