Deuba to run for NC parliamentary party leader: Sources
KATHMANDU, Feb 9: Prime Minister and party president Sher Bahadur Deuba is set to compete for the Nepali Congress (NC) party parliamentary leader, according to NC sources.
Earlier, it was agreed to pitch party General Secreatary Dr Sashank Koirala as the party leader in consensus. But, after the leaders of Deuba faction convinced him, he is preparing to compete for the post himself. Meanwhile, youth leader Deepak Khadka is trying to persuade Deuba to nominate the party parliamentary leader in overall consensus.
Since, Deuba himself is running for the race, Prakash Man Singh is preparing to challenge Deuba announcing his candidacy. Singh has been publicly expressing his will to compete for the post for weeks.
According to sources, Deuba close leaders Bal Krishna Khand, Dr Prakash Saran Mahat among others convinced him to announce his candidacy arguing it would not be appropriate to appoint Dr Koirala for the post.
