500 plus restaurateurs from Baglung in Japan



KATHMANDU:  One could see the Nepalis restaurants in Japan established by the people from Baglung district. Most of the people from Galkot area in Baglung district who left for Japan to earn a better life have turned entrepreneurs by opening restaurants in Japan. They have opened restaurants in the main cities in Japan including Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka, among others.

Majority of the people going to the land of the rising sun are found running restaurants, said Chairman of Galkot Society in Japan Mohan Khatri.

Among the 16 VDCs in the Galkot area, people from around 10 VDCs have made Japan their destination for employment and most of them have opened over 500 restaurants in Japan, said Chairman Khatri. Nepalis who have gone to Japan in search of jobs have achieved success in business but those going there in recent days are facing challenges finding jobs.
