“Art is needed to do politics” : Prachanda

Kathmandu, Jan. 12 : Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that relation of politics and literature can ensure social transformation.

Releasing a novel ‘Premil’ penned by Bhagawati Dhungel in the capital city on Saturday, the former Prime Minister said that the politics guides the issues motivated by the literature. “Art is needed to do politics. The political parties should use art to appeal the people towards their agendas,” he added.

Prachanda also said that political parties should incorporate sorrows and pleasures of the people in the form of literature. Songs, poems and other forms of literature have contributed to the political movements in Nepal and they have key roles even the successful resolution of such movements, he added.

Literature should be kept in the centre to ensure sustainability of the political changes, he stressed. “Literature moves individuals inwardly to shape their psyche and attitudes and such wave crates political consciousness,” he added.

Vice Chairperson of Social Welfare Council Nirmalmani Baral, lyricist Prof Krishna Hari Baral, litterateur Krishna Dharabasi, Laxmi Dahal, chief of Thapathali Engineering Campus Janardan Bhatta and others praised Dhungel’s writing in the novel for vividly portraying the social realities.
