Kathmandu, 26th May. Member of the House of Representatives Ek Nath Dhakal has been awarded with a post graduate degree from “HJ International Graduate School for Peace and Public Leadership” in USA.

At the 48th convocation ceremony held in New York, the president of the college Dr. Thomas Gerald Walsh presented the certificate of “Master of Arts in Peace Studies” to lawmaker Dhakal. Dhakal joined the college in 2021 and studied through distance learning.

He also received a full scholarship from the college for this study. Lawmaker Dhakal attended his graduation ceremony in person in New York along with his wife Blessie Gadon Dhakal.

Former US Special Envoy Joseph R. Detrani was presented with an honorary doctoral degree at the convocation ceremony. Ambassador Detrani was the US Special Envoy for the Six-Party Talks with North Korea and he served as a member of the Senior Intelligence Service at the Central Intelligence Agency for over two decades.

Kathmandu, January 31. Moon Star Club announced the program of 2024 in a press conference today with the aim of promoting sports and bringing tourism to the lower areas of Solukhumbu. A trail marathon with a prize of 3 lakhs was announced at a press conference held at Reporters Club, Kathmandu on Wednesday.

The prize money is considered to be the biggest prize money in Nepal in the history of Trail Marathon. On the occasion of the annual celebration of the Moon Star Club, the trail marathon to be organized on October 21, 2024 will be 42 kilometers distances. Chandra Bahadur Rai, the club’s vice president and program coordinator, informed that an international trail marathon has been organized for the promotion of sports and tourism in the lower areas of Solukhumbu.

President Bhuwan Singh Rai informed that the marathon will start from Solududhakunda Municipality – 5, Salleri and reach the Basakli Secondary School (Khalidanda) of Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality 2.

The top three winners of the trail marathon, who can participate in domestic and foreign women/men above 16 years of age, will be awarded 3 lakh, 2 lakh and 1 lakh cash, trophy and certificate respectively, while consolation 5/5 runners will be awarded 5/5 thousand in cash and certificate.

Equal prizes have been arranged for the winners of the competition for women and men. Mr.Purna Rai, secretary of Moon Star Club, said that on October 21, 2024 a women’s/men’s ‘Motherland Marathon’ will also be organized to give special encouragement to local athletes and He also thanked the founder Prashan Rai and the international coordinator Nadia Ruiz for hard work on their side.

The marathon will start from Kharikhola (Khumbu Pasangalhamu Rural Municipality) 1 and will be 21 km through Juving to Khalidanda. According to the organizers, the winners of the women’s and men’s side will be awarded the same prize amount of 20 thousand, 15 thousand and 10 thousand in cash and certificates, while 1/1 consolation runner will be awarded 5/5 thousand in cash and certificates. At the conference, international runner Arjun Kulung said that the trail marathon, which will be organized with the wish of world peace, will help in the promotion of sports and tourism.

Kathmandu, 24th April 2023: Laxmi Bank has signed an MOU with Nepal Police Welfare Fund to establish the Nepal Police-Laxmi Bank Scholarship Akshaya Fund worth NPR 25 lakhs and pledges financial assistance of NPR 7.5 lakhs over the next five years as part of its #SupportGirlChild initiative.

The MOU was signed by Mr. Dipesh Amatya, Chief of Retail Financial Services, Laxmi Bank and Mr. Kedar Dhakal, Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police in the presence of Inspector General of Nepal Police, Mr. Basanta Kunwar and Chief Executive Officer of Laxmi Bank, Mr. Ajaya Bikram Shah. This scholarship fund aims to support deserving female students from the families of incumbent, former, and retired, martyred or disabled junior level police officers studying in Police Schools.

Kathmandu, 24th April 2023. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP)’s candidate Dr Swarnim Wagle is leading a vote tally under the House of Representatives (HoR) by-election in Tanahu constituency-1. The voting was held on Sunday.

The vote count is ongoing since 11:45 pm of Sunday, and as per the latest updates from 13 wards till 10:00 am today, Dr Wagle has led the count with 10,259 votes to his name.

The margin was 5,256 votes against his nearest rival Govinda Bhattarai of Nepali Congress who garnered 5,003. Likewise, Sarbendra Khanal of CPN (UML) got 2,797. The vote count is underway in the district coordination committee’s hall. A total of 63,757 votes were cast in 42 wards in the constituency.

Kathmandu, 24th April 2023. The Election Commission has sought clarification from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson and House of Representatives by-election candidate Rabi Lamichhane in the violation of the election code of conduct.

The EC acted on a complaint registered by the Nepali Congress, Chitwan accusing Lamichhane and Chief District Officer Surendra Paudel of flouting the election code of conduct.

Lamichhane was asked to furnish clarification on the matter on Sunday, and the response was submitted the same day, said Ishwor Acharya, assistant election officer at the election office, Chitwan, adding that the reply was forwarded to the Election Commission.

Lamichhane has been charged with violating the code of conduct by asking for vote on social sites and launching publicity campaign at the polling centre during the silence period. CDO Paudel has been also accused of assisting Lamichhane in these activities. The NC has sought action against the persons in question as per the Election Act.

Mayor Koirala called the representatives of contractor at metropolis office and issued the directive to pace up construction works. Koirala asked the contractor to keep the local people’s woes in lack of quality roads and expedite construction.

Koirala also discussed with the contractor’s representatives about the challenges surfaced in the construction of 3.195-km postal road from Biratnagar-5, Ganeshchowk to the Keshaliya Bridge.

Pokhara, 27th January: Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Khaga Raj Adhikari has asked the secretaries of the province government to expedite the processes to spend the capital expenditure while remaining economical on current expenses.

Taking briefings from the ministers and secretaries at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers on Thursday, Adhikari argued that financial good-governance, and development was a precondition to minimize the current expenditure.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Adhikari directed the stakeholders to translate the issue of good-governance in practice, not merely in speeches and slogans.

Special steps are needed to clear the past arrears and prevent from happening the new arrears by fully abiding by the Economic Act, Rules and Procedures, according to the Chief Minister.

Reminding the officials of the decision to make the province government’s organizations prompt for its effective operation being cost-effective, Adhikari asked the officials to cooperate with the principal secretary-led organization and management committee for making an objective organization and management (O and M).

In its bid to reduce the operation cost, the province government has already downsized the ministries from 12 to seven in Gandaki Province
