30 Ambulances, 6 buses gifted to hospitals, charitable organizations and academic institutions

KATHMANDU, Aug 15: The 72nd Indian Independence Day was celebrated at the premises of the Embassy of India on Wednesday in Kathmandu amid special ceremony.

On the occasion, Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Manjeev Singh Puri gifted 30 ambulances and 6 buses to various hospitals, non-profit charitable organizations and educational institutions of different districts to strengthen education and health services in Nepal in a reaffirmation on the commitment of the Government of India’s support to Nepal in its journey towards development.

The Embassy also distributed cheques worth NRS 53 million five hundred thousand and blankets to widows, next of kins and deceased soldiers of Indian Armed Forces.

The Embassy also donated books to libraries, educational and training institutions located in different regions of Nepal.

The function was attended by Embassy officials, their families, members of the Indian community and other guests. The ceremony concluded with a performance by the Nepal Army Band.
