Chair Oli briefs CC meeting regarding party unification

KATHMANDU, May 17: CPN-UML Chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has informed the party unification process in the central committee meeting held at his official residence in Baluwatar on Thursday.

He said that the unification between UML and CPN (Maoist Center) was to meet the historical need and aspirations of the people.

Chair Oli shared that the historical decision was taken to lead the nation ahead and end the splitting culture of communist parties in Nepal.

The guiding principle of the party will be the Marxism and Leninism and the new party will adopt the program of people’s democracy targeted to socialism.

NINE-MEMBER SECRETARIAT

There will be nine member secretariat of the new party, said UML secretary Yogesh Bhattarai. The members are KP Sharma Oli, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, ‘Prachanda’, Jhalnath Khanal, Madhav Nepal, Bamdev Gautam, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Ishwar Pokharel, Ram Bahadur Thapa and Bishnu Poudel.

Bhattarai also shared that the Poudel will be assigned the responsibly of general secretary while Shrestha as the spokesperson of the new party.

Meanwhile, Maoist center’s secretariat meeting was recently held and issues related to party merger was discussed.

The meeting also discussed the name for standing committee and central committee to be represented in the new party after unification.

Similarly, a joint meeting of the both party’s central committee is underway in Baluwatar.

And the both chairs will address the meeting and inform the developed issues.
