KATHMANDU, June 12: The Department of Transport Management has said that all the driving licenses that are yet to be printed will be distributed within next two months.

According to an official at the department, four new smart license printers have been bought at the department. The license will be printed in two shifts to end the delay in license distribution.

The transport department only had two printers before, which had caused problem in the readying and distribution of the license to the people who had already passed the driving test. Due to lack of card and printer, service seekers had to wait for months to receive their license and many have been driving on the basis of the receipt provided by the department.

“The license printing task will speed up and the service seekers won’t have to wait for months to get their license now,” said Tulsiram Aryal, spokesperson at the department.

The government started distributing smart license two years ago. Approximately 300,000 people are waiting for the license due to the delay in printing, according to the department.

The department is also planning to call for tender to prepare 1 million license.
