MUSTANG, Apr 1: A 46-year-old German tourist died of altitude sickness in Muktinath VDC of Mustang on Monday.

According to Chief District Officer Narahari Baral, Julia Siwalt who went for trekking via Manang lost his life yesterday morning.

Julia, who was landed at a hotel in Muktinath, suffered excessive bleeding from her mouth since Sunday evening before she went unconscious. She breathed her last on the way to the District Hospital Jomsom.

A team of four tourists including Julia had left for Annapurna trekking and sight-seeing of panoramic mountains from Manang. “Julia also suffered high blood pressure. It is because of long trekking along the high altitude route”, CDO Baral added.
