SURKHET, July 11: The Jumla-Rara Ultra Marathon 2018 has kicked off on Wednesday.
President of the National Athletics Association, Rajib Bikram Shah and ultra world champion Meera Rai jointly inaugurated the marathon.
Three hundred twenty athletes have participated in the long distance race from Khalanga of Jumla to Rara Lake in Mugu. The marathon is taking place on 49 kilometers distance.
According to president of the Karnali Sports Club Saroj Shahi, athletes from 14 districts including Jhapa, Dhankuta, Bhojpur, Sindhupalchowk, Kathmandu, Dhading, Kaski, Syangja and the districts of the mid-west and far-west region have participated in the national marathon championship. The club has organized the marathon.
