Lawmakers draw govt’s attention toward Appropriation Bill

KATHMANDU, June 17 : Discussions are underway under different topics of the Appropriation Bill, 2075 in today’s House of Representative meeting.

Lawmaker Durga Bahadur Rawal, taking part in the deliberation, claimed that the government was not moving ahead as per the policy, procedures and system.

Likewise, lawmaker Raj Kishor Yadav said that the government was not acting liberally towards Madhes while Siraha district was paid less heed.

Similarly, lawmakers Bimal Prasad Shreebastab, Ghanshyam Khatiwada, Bimala Nepali, Renuka Gurung and Bina Devi Budhathoki drew attention of the government towards rising violence against women, lack of concrete policy on rural development, rampant degradation of forests and pollution in the rivers.

Lawmaker Til Bahadur Mahat said that the government was neglecting the Karnali Province.

The discussion also focused on the proposal of cutting the budget on the headings of women, children and elderly citizens, federal affairs and general administration, urban development and forest and environment.

NC lawmaker Man Bahadur Bishwokarma however said the budget was insufficient to empower the local levels and discriminatory to the Dalit people.

Same party lawmaker Ram Bahadur Bista said the provision of providing discount on bus fare to the elderly citizens must be implemented strictly.

Similarly, another leader of the NC, Laxmi Pariyar expressed worry over depletion of forest and accused the government of fomenting policy level corruption.

Nepal Workers and Peasant Party’s Prem Suwal wondered why the trafficking of women was not stopped and why no attention was paid to eliminate child labor.

Rastriya Janamorcha’s Durga Poudel complained that people were deprived of the feeling of good governance from civil servants. RSS
