bus services in Nepal, long route bus service

KATHMANDU, Feb 21: The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) has taken action against the drivers of 45 public vehicles plying on long routes for flouting the provision of keeping two drivers.

The Police Headquarters, Highway Security and Traffic Directorate had brought into operation from February 10 the ‘traffic communication app’ to monitor whether or not the public vehicles plying on long route have been following the rule.

Division chief, Senior Superintendent of Police Basanta Panta said the app has been brought into operation to ensure the implementation of the provision made in the Transport Management Act, 2049 BS requiring the public passenger vehicles operating on long routes to keep two drivers.

The Directorate had made arrangements to access information on drivers on long routes, the bus number and the departure time through the app. The Traffic Police believes that the number of road accidents can be reduced with the operation of the app.

Such app has been brought into operation at Nagdhunga of Kathmandu, at Karmaiya of Sarlahi in Province-2 and at Kohalpur of Banke in Province-5.
The public vehicles flouting this legal provision would be fined Rs 1,000. RSS
