May 29 could be the new date for deliver the constitution: Nepal

BHIMDUTTANAGAR, FEB 22 : CPN-UML leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that May 29 could be a new date for promulgating the new constitution.

Taking to party cadres in Mahendranagar on Sunday, Senior Leader of UML said, May 29 would be the appropriate date for promulgating the new constitution as it also happens to be the Republic Day. Leader Nepal said that most of the issues of the new constitution were close to a consensus therefore it should not be prolonged.

He said that the UCPN (Maoist) was the reason behind the postponement of the date for promulgation of a new constitution time and again. He added though the Maoist was repeatedly reiterating for consensus, the party was not found trustworthy while implementing the agreements.

On a different note, leader Nepal said that he had urged Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal not to indulge in protest by negating the responsibility of drafting the new constitution.

Similarly, leader Nepal shared that he urged Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and Home Minister Bamdev Gautam to inquire about the security threat against Unified Maoist Chair Dahal. Chairman Dahal recently had announced that he was facing a security threat.
