MMC starts its victory in AFC President’s Cup

Kathmandu, May 02. Nepal’s A Division League champion Manang Marshyandi Club (MMC) scored 6-3 victory against Cambodia’s League champion Svay Rieng in its first match of the AFC President’s Cup 2014 Qualifiers which was held at MFF Football Centre , in Mongolia on Thursday.

For MMC, Deepak Rai secured double goals while national team’s striker Mr. Anil Gurung, Saheed Aziz, Sulav Maskey and Nirajan Malla netted a goal respectively, for winning the game. Deepak Rai scored an opening goal in the early 6th minute and Gurung doubled the tally after three minutes. Then, Aziz made in 3-1 in the 24th minute.

Similarly, Rai scored another goal in his name in the 62nd minute while Sulav Maskey and Nirajan Malla added a goal each in the 75th and 81st minute, respectively. After the victory, MMC has strengthened its hope for next round of the tournament. Now, it will take on Mongolia’s League champion Erchim on May 5.

Altogether 11 teams from the emerging countries of Asia are participating in the tournament which will be played on a round-robin basis.
