People’s representatives pledge for hydropower development

MYAGDI, May 28: The newly-elected people’s representatives, political parties, private and administrative sector have expressed shared commitment to enable consensual environment for hydropower development in Myagdi district.

The stakeholders have come up with the commitment at a two-day workshop on ‘Consensus on Hydropower Development and Hydro News Writing’ organized by Independent Power Producers Association of Nepal (IPPAN) with support from Norwegian Embassy and Niti Foundation in Beni on Saturday.

On the occasion, the key actors and stakeholders pledged to attract investment for hydropower – considered to be the foundation of economic prosperity of Myagdi and build consensual environment to ease project construction.

The workshop participants also urged the promoters to take ahead the Myagdi district-based projects that have been on the process of construction.
The stakeholders have articulated commitment to lay emphasis on the development of physical infrastructures such as road and transmission line in a way to contribute to the development of the district.

On the occasion, various experts including former Chairperson of IPPAN Khadga Bahadur Bista, treasurer Ananda Chaudhary, member Bharat Khadka, deputy director general of Power Development Department Purswottam Acahrya and former director general DB Singh had presented working papers. RSS
