PM assures peace and security
Kathmandu, Sept. 12: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has said that the government was committed to ensuring peace and security in the country by ending the ongoing agitations.
At a meeting with the office-bearers of the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar today, PM Koirala said that the government was effortful to create environment conducive to run the business and industries in a smooth manner.
On the occasion, the team of the business leaders drew attention of the PM saying that environment was not created to run the industries and business due to the agitations of the Madhes-centric and Tharu communities.
After the meeting with the PM, President of FNCCI Pashupati Murarka said that they informed the Prime Minister about the terror created on the private sector and general public due to ongoing strikes and forceful activities.
He said that the private sector was not in the situation to run the industry and business due to attacks, forceful activities and rising threats on the private sector, industrialists and industry sector.
“Tourism industry has come to a grinding halt. Situation is not favourable to repay the installment of loans to the banks and financial institutions and taxes to the government,” President Murarka said.
On the occasion, the PM expressed confidence that the ongoing unrest would end within some days as discussions were underway with the disgruntled parties though formal talks were not held.
The FNCCI has claimed that the strike in a day causes Rs 2 billion loss to the country.
During the meeting, Finance Minister Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, Physical Infrastructure and Transport Management Minister Bimalendra Nidhi and Minister for Forests and Soil Conservation Mahesh Acharya were also present. RSS
