Police arrest shooter, four others involved in Gauchan’s murder (With video)

KATHMANDU, Nov 14: Police on Tuesday have arrested five persons including shooter who had involvement in the murder of Chairman of Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal Sharad Kumar Gauchan.

The construction entrepreneur Gauchan was shot to death at Kathmandu Metropolis-31, Kharibot Prayagmarg in New Baneswor on October 9.

Organizing a press conference at Nepal Police Club, the police made public the arrestees. Those arrested are Rajiv Syangtang, 21 of Nuwakot, Panchakanya rural municipalty-5, Sivaji Mahato, 35 of Parsa, Kalikamai rural municipality-1, Mukesh Kumar Pandey, 24 of Betiya district, Gram Panchayat Choubetola-7, Bihar, Santosh Gurung, 18 of Parsa, Thori rural municipality -5 and Prakash Budathoki, 22 of Kathmandu, Nagarjun-5.

Chief AIG Jaya Bahadur Chand said that eight suspects are absconding. Among them are Samirman Singh Basnet, Manoj Pun, Ganga Lingen (Boka), Shyam Bahadur Gumbe, Ambar Bahadur Rana (Kale dai), Roshan Budhathoki and Ajay Thapa.

According to Chand, two shots were fired at Gauchan from two different guns. Rajiv Syangtang was the one of shooters.

Chand also said that motorcycles used in shooting were stolen from India.

The police have suspected Samir Man Basnet as the kingpin behind the murder of Gauchan and Ambar Bahadur Rana as another shooter.
